The Brave Coin started as a and idea.  An idea when my first born was nervous about the first day on a new soccer team.  He asked me to make him invisible and my heart just fell.  I wanted him to be brave and see the wonderful possibilities that lay before him. The possibility of new friends, of learning new things, and the possibility of reaching his potential.  I tried to convince

him, but again, he just asked me to make him invisible.  With no other options, I reached in my pocket and found an ordinary quarter.  An idea sprang forward.  I handed him the quarter and told him that this was no ordinary coin.  It was filled with magic that would help him be courageous.  He took it, held it, then carefully placed it in his pocket and went off to his first practice.  All during practice, I could see him put his hand in that pocket..no doubt he was grasping that quarter, but by the end of his first practice, he was elated.  A new idea was forming in my head.

That is how the story of The Brave Coin started.  With an idea to help children to see that bravery is not given to you with a magic coin, but that the coin helps you find the courage you already had inside.

Like the coin helped my son, I pray that this book helps your child realize that they too are Brave!
