Virtual Visits for National Be Brave Day in May!

NationalBeBraveDay.webp

National Be Brave Day is on May 16th, and I'm excited to share that The Brave Coin will be joining the national movement committed to help children find their inner brave.  Started by co-founders and authors Karla Clark (Three Ways to be Brave) and Christina Furnival (Fear Not!), the program celebrates the day with the Be Brave Challenge, a challenge where students can earn Bravo! Bravery Points by completing worksheets and exhibiting acts of bravery.

Students can earn points for their classroom between May 16th - 31st in order to get an official certificate, shout out on social media and website, and can enter their class for a pizza party!

I will also be incorporating portions of the Be Brave Challenge in my own school visits for the month of May. There are a few spots left before we end the school year! If you are interested in an Author Visit, please send an email to anna@akkaros.com.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Open House

Thank you to all those who attended the opening of the new Ronald McDonald House in Oakland! It was a wonderful day and the community block party was a blast! Dancing, games, story time and lots of fun! The neighborhood welcomed a new 7-bedroom Ronald McDonald House Oakland, located directly across the street from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.

Thank you to everyone who came by and said hello at my booth! An even bigger thank you to those who signed the Bravery Dragon! This dragon will be displayed at the new home as a reminder to the children and families that they are as brave as a DRAGON!

Check out the amazing pictures below, and you can still continue to help RMHC by going to their website below.

What’s scarier… a dragon or the first day of school?

For Sam, it is the first day at a new school that terrifies him, but could a wizard, a fire-breathing dragon, and a quest for a magic coin help him tackle his fears?

This magical story helps kids discover what it truly means to be brave and find the courage inside to believe in yourself.
